NEW SPOILERS Born of the Gods!

Recent Posts

   Hey there MTG Peeps!
They are finally here! The new mechanics, and some new card spoilers from the mothersite!! And they sure do look great! We are totally excited here at MTG The Journey, and we would like to share them with you!

First up, featuring the new Inspired mechanic, which has a triggered effect when the creature becomes Untapped.

Here is one of our first glimpses at the new mechanic. It has a Dark Confidant (Bob) ability that could be abused through other already spoiled cards like Springleaf Drum. I see this being a staple in quite a few decks, and being really expensive right out of the gate due to it being one of the best cards we have seen spoiled from BNG so far. It's price is already reaching $7+ for pre-order. We will look forward to other cards that interact with this new BearBob.

Another common featuring the Inspired mechanic. While not as flashy as the pseudo-Dark Confidant, it still shows us some abilities we might see in some of the commons and un-commons that feature this mechanic.

The second mechanic we will see this set that is new is Tribute. It's going to make your opponent choose whether they want to be dealt damage, or whether they want to allow your creature to get bigger.

This, according to the mothersite, is going to replace the Monstrous mechanic in the THS set. They wanted to move to a more fun and more interactive mechanic, and felt that Monstrous didn't cut it. This card, our only view of this mechanic so far, at common, is already pretty scary.

We see the return of Heroic, the mechanic that gives you a neat effect if the card becomes the target of a spell.

This seems like a card that is going to be used moving forward to push that discard engine in M15, I see a big match-up there already. And who knows what other shinanigans you could pull with this guy. At uncommon, easy to pick up as well!

The Bestow mechanic is also back, and this time they said that they have added cards that feel more useful.

As a 1-drop 1/2, this guy isn't bad, take into effect that he is also a one-drop, and a Human, and this guy might make the cut for an Esper Humans 1-drop slot, being a better main-board option than some of the other White Humans.

A pumpable creature for 2, seems almost too good. This could end up being a dangerous little uncommon.

Devotion is also back in this set, and this time we see it on a sorcery!!!

I had a feeling this was coming. And I would predict that we will see Sorceries in all of the colors that have similar effects to this. I like this idea, and it seems like these cards will see a lot of play. The green one, not so much. I don't really see decks right now that have a ton of flyers. So that may be some things we see more of in this set as well.

Not on the same road, but we also get our first look at the next series of gods in the pantheon! Who by chance, also deals with Devotion.

So in my opinion, who cares if she ever becomes a creature. Her static ability is well worth the 4. Seems like a perfect match-up with Akroan Horse!

Yet another new cycle of cards we will see in this set. The Archetype cycle.

These cards are slated to have a static effect on the field. It has already been stated that if two of these hit the field on opposite sides, the "can't" effects over-ride the "can" effects.

And that is all we have today for spoilers. Keep posted as I will be going through some of these mechanics and cards and looking for match-ups and combos that arise.

As always, keep brewing! We look forward to providing you with more spoilers and decklists soon!
